OLX is one of Brazil’s leading online marketplaces, enabling users to buy and sell a wide range of products and services, from electronics and vehicles to real estate and jobs. The vehicle history report is a tool that helps build trust and safety for those buying and selling cars on OLX. It provides information about the vehicle, including outstanding debts, past collisions, and other relevant data.
The challenge for the team was to design the user experience for the history report on the website — from acquisition to the sale of the vehicle. This feature was considered highly strategic for increasing the area’s revenue that year. In fact, its prioritization stemmed from a need to drive early revenue.
I was responsible for overseeing the entire design process and making product decisions alongside the PMs. I helped define how the design process would work, including testing and reporting, and took part in conducting and observing some of the tests and research.
The first release was an MVP that offered the history report for free but didn’t include flows for deleting the history or handling errors from incorrect information input. We chose to launch the MVP to understand how users would adopt the solution. After the history was integrated into the listing, we presented a survey to assess how much users would be willing to pay for the feature.
After validating and understanding the scenario, we built out the full experience, including the complete input and deletion flows for the history report in the listing. The released functionality became a significant source of revenue for the area and was recognized internally as a successful case of fast and effective product delivery.
